A yacht captain, said Friday that he lied to authorities about the mysterious death of Natalie Wood, and blames the late actress's husband, Robert Wagner, by drowning on the coast of Southern California.Thirty years after his drowning ruled an accident, has opened a murder investigation into the death of Oscar-nominated actress.

Wood drowned after spending several hours drinking at Catalina Island, and a yacht with her husband Robert Wagner, actor Christopher Walken and loved the ship's captain Dennis Davern.

Davern told NBC "Today" show Friday that he had erred by not telling the truth about the events that led to his death, and called homicide investigators in Los Angeles County Sheriff to reopen the file.

Sister Natalie Wood, Lana, TMZ said Thursday she thinks Wagner withheld information from the authorities after the drowning. This appears to contradict earlier statements by Lana Wood, Wagner had nothing to do with the death of his sister.
Los Angeles County sheriff talk to reporters Friday about the decision to take another look at the wood the night the disappearance of November 29, 1981. The sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said Thursday that renewed investigation was prompted by new information not specified in the case of wood.
The Los Angeles Times cited Sheriff Lee Baca said in recent comments Davern, who was interviewed for the book project 2000 Vanity Fair article and comments are discussed and a new print edition of the "48 Hours Mystery" episode that focus on scandals in Hollywood.

Police officials also hope the public tips that can shed new light on how the wood eventually drown.

Wood, a three-time Oscar nominee famous for roles in "West Side Story, '`' Rebel Without a Cause "and other Hollywood hits, was 43 when she died. She and Wagner, star of TV series "Hart to Hart" was married twice, first in 1957, before divorcing six years later. They remarried in 1972.

Wagner wrote an autobiography in 2008, which he blamed the death of his wife.
Wood said the disappearance of the night, during which the couple, and Walken in the restaurant and drank a boat. Wood went to the cabin during a discussion between a husband and Walken. Wagner, the last time he saw his wife, his bathroom mirror fixing their hair, and he closed the door.
