Spicy Sweet Potatoes - Indian Style / Poriyal Sakkaravalli Kizhangu :
The sweet potato is one of my favorites. In our Villiage, we cook sweet potatoes (sakkaravalli kizhangu in Tamil), burning in the fire. we remove the outer skin and roasted potatoes. As a child, I will be allowed near the stove (viragu aduppu), if I want to eat a boiled potato roast (kizhangu Sutta). It is the root so healthy too.Moving to the city, I tried to cook stove flame, but the taste is felt as good as your brick viragu aduppu. The recipe that iam going to share is very simple, but it works fine. If you love the sweet potato, so do not try this for sure.
- 2 medium baked sweet potatoes
- 2 medium potatoes boiled sweet red
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon ginger juice
- Teaspoon salt 1 / 2 (adjust to taste)
- 1 / 2 c. teaspoon black salt
- 1 / 4 teaspoon red pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 / 4 cup black pepper teaspoon
- 1 / 2 teaspoon toasted cumin seeds
Chop a red onion finely.

Trim head and tail of the sweet potato and peel the skin. wash them. Chop into round shapes and keep aside. they will soon change color, so you soak them in water before loading on the front.
Heat a pan, add oil and heat. Add the mustard, let it pop. Add curry leaves and fry. Add 1 / 4 c. teaspoon asafoetida powder.
Add the chopped onion and fry until they become transparent. Now add the potatoes cut sweet onion and mix well. Season with salt and pepper / sambhar powder and mix well.
Now add one cup water 1 / 4 or say add water until the potatoes can be submerged in water on the stove and close with a lid and lower the flame.yam cooked within 5 minutes in water. Now that the potatoes are roasted in the pan for another 3-4 minutes. careful not to burn them.

- 1 chopped green chili (adjust to taste)
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- Boil the sweet potatoes, not more than cooking.
- Peel and cut the skin of 1 / 8 inch thick, it is easy to decide, after the potatoes have cooled.
- Mix all the spices, ginger juice and lemon juice.
- Spread the slices of sweet potato on the plate.
- Spread a few drops of spice mixture on each piece.
- Stack the slices over the sweet potatoes, slices of sweet potato provides a nice red color white on a dark pink.
- Garnish with chopped green chillies and chopped coriander.
- Serve at room temperature.
